Calabar High School was
established under the auspices of the Baptist Missionary
Society of London and the Jamaica Baptist Union and began
as an extension of the educational facilities of the Calabar
Theological College. It opened on September 12, 1912
at Slipe Pen Road. In 1952, the High School moved to
the current location at 61 Red Hills Road. At present,
the School population is approximately 1,700 students. The
current principal is Captain Lincoln Thaxter. This
all boy’s institution has maintained a reputation for
scholarship, with its alumni winning the Jamaica and Rhodes
Scholarships on numerous occasions. Famous alumni
include past Prime Minister The Most Honourable Percival
James Patterson QC, ON. The School is also renowned
for its sporting achievements especially in athletics and
football.

Clarendon College began
on February 2, 1942 through the instrumentality of Rev. Lester
Davy, a Jamaica congregational Minister who sought to build
a co-educational high school to benefit the poor farming
communities in Clarendon. The School started out in
a small cottage called Rose Bank and moved to its present
location in Chapleton Town between 1942 and 1944. Originally,
a boarding facility the School transformed to a day school
in 1993. The current student population is approximately
1,700 students. Clarendon College has always
done well in sports and is currently one of the top rural
teams in football.

Mona Preparatory School was
established in 1964 by the Hope United Church to provide
primary level education for residents of Hope Pastures, Mona
Heights and surrounding communities. Presently the
School boasts an enrollment of 640 students. The current
principal is Mrs. Tamika Benjamin who took up the post in
2004. She continues to lead the School in the strong
tradition of encouraging students to optimize their full
potential both academically and otherwise.
